Vanessa is an Australian dancer and circus artist who has performed nationally and internationally. 

Vanessa grew up in Brisbane training ballet (RAD), jazz (CSTD), tap  (CSTD), contemporary, hip hop and musical theatre (Trinity College) at The Julie-ann Lucas School of Dance (JAL Dance, Annerley) & Kidz'n'Co (Tennyson). In 2004 -2007 she gained her Student & Full Teaching Diploma's for CSTD Tap & Theatrical (JAL Dance). In 2006 she also completed her Trinity College ATCL Full Teaching Diploma for Performing Arts (Kidz'n'Co). Vanessa continued teaching, training and performing dance and acrobatics in Brisbane until the age of 22 when she auditioned and was successfully accepted into NICA (The National Institute of Circus Arts). She specialised in Duo swinging trapeze, foot juggling and ground acrobatics. In her first year she was the recipient of the May Wirth Award for highest achieving female for her year. She graduated in 2011 with a Bachelor of Circus Arts and went straight into a performing contract with P&O Cruise Lines as a guest circus artist. Since 2011 Vanessa has performed and collaborated nationally and internationally with companies including C!RCA, Circus Oz and The Fly Factory as well as performing in many Fringe Festivals and corporate events. Vanessa has also continued her teaching throughout her performing career.

She is a strong believer that in order to be a good teacher you must also be a good student which is why she has never taken herself out of the industry. Forever learning, forever adapting. To be a good student you must be able to take on constructive feedback take the highs and the lows and above all have passion for what you do in this world. To find your passion in life is a gift that should never be wasted. 


Director - Sam Aldham

Sam is an Australian circus artist & clown who has performed nationally & internationally.

Sam Aldham began his life in the circus at the young age of 6. His father was a world famous human cannonball artist who was one day tragically shot too far and landed in the ocean. This lead Sam to further pursue a career in circus in hope that one day he would find his father. To this day Sam still searches. He started this journey at Club Med Resorts as a flying trapeze artist and instructor and then went onto study at NICA (The National Institute of Circus Arts) where he trained in Cord de lisse (Vertical Rope), Comedy Acrobatics and Hoop Diving. Sam then went on to perform nationally & internationally with Three High Acrobatics, and has most recently performed with circus companies Circus Oz and Dislocate. With a background in theatre, he has over 14 years experience as a circus performer and tutor. Sam is excited to share the knowledge he has gained through his training & performance career.



Connor Micallef


Connor has danced with multiple dance companies including "Lionheart Dance Company", Performing in the professional show "Fabricated" and undergoing company training every week, as well as that he has completed his training at "Kelly Aykers Full Time Dance" in Melbourne under the prestigious Kelly Aykers. His performance credits include: Representing Australia in the ICC opening ceremony , back up dancer to Nathaniel and Mike Tompkins, featured dancer in the Australian mini series “The Divorce”, performer at Brandcast and the Youtube Fanfest. Additionally has performed a number of times in Masters of choreography , Victorian dance festival and Australian Dance Festival.


Tim Doherty


Tim Doherty is a well-accomplished Australian performer. He has performed and choreographed all around Australia and internationally. His charisma and natural leadership has him held with high regard with his fellow industry professionals.

Recently, he completed a 10 month contract in Asia with the Chinese-based company SDT (Super Diverse Talent Entertainment). This saw him dancing and choreographing for many famous international Artists, including back-up dancing for the Chinese superstars TF Boys, Luhan, Wei Chen, Julian Chen and Gem among many others. He performed at the highly notable QQ Music Awards, V-Chart Music Awards, China MTV Music Awards, The Global Golden Chart awards and the ’11.11 Tmall; Taobao Super Show’.

He performed choreography from the likes of Shaun Everisto, Ian Eastwood, Lyle Beniga, just to name a few. This lead to many TV appearances all over China and advertisements with company’s such as Adidas and Samsung (headphones).

He has had the pleasure of performing with many Australian artists but his favourite was back up dancing for Guy Sebastian for Taylor Swift’s Red Tour at Etihad Stadium in Melbourne. His career progressed into being in the ensemble for Stageart’s Australian premier of the Tony Award Winning ‘In The Heights the musical’. It returned for a second season where he was elevated to Assistant Choreographer and Dance Captain.

He completed two years of full-time dance training in Melbourne, which lead him to many shows. He initially worked in contemporary youth dance company ‘Project Y’. He then eventuated to the professional contemporary company ‘Collaboration The Project’ where he performed in many shows, including a lead role in the successful season of ‘Parkland Avenue’ that travelled around Australia.

He then progressed to being a part of Transit Dance Company’s show ‘BOYZ’ where he was an intern then Assistant Director & Choreographer next to Paul Malek. Tim also was in Lion Heart Dance Company’s inaugural season of The Scarlet Trace as a lead dancer. Tim has also been a resident dancer/performer for Ole Ola’s Latin show at Copacabana International’s for the past 5 years. For a short period of time he was a dancer with ‘The King Of Pop’ Michael Jackson tribute show and Michael Jackson’s ‘HIStory’ tribute show in Melbourne.

Tim works all over Melbourne with many entertainment companies. He is considered to be a very trustworthy member of each team he works with. He prides himself on respect, hard work and fun. Tim wishes to continue dancing all over the world where he can perform and choreograph with the best in the business.

Kade Hughes


Kade has been dancing for the last 15 years; genres include Broadway & Commercial jazz, tap, classical ballet, contemporary, lyrical, acrobatics, Hip hop and musical theatre – under the guidance of Kelly Aykers. For 2 years Kade performed as a member of Paul Malek’s Origins Contemporary Company – as well as completing the extensions program. Kade’s career highlights include
playing the lead role of Michael Banks in the Melbourne season of Mary Poppins at Her Majesty’s theatre for 2 years and playing the lead Role of Jeremy Potts in both the Melbourne and Adelaide seasons of Chitty Chitty
Bang Bang for 1 year. He also performed at the Vision Australia Carols by Candle light at the Sydney Myer music bowl and has won a solo aggregate and Tap championship at the prestigious Royal South Street Eisteddfod. At the
beginning of 2017 he was chosen to perform both his VET Dance solos at the Top class Dance concert - at the Melbourne Recital Centre, and was later chosen to represent VET dance at the Top Acts Season of Excellence 2017. Kade is looking forward to continuing his journey in the musical theatre stream, whilst working as a dance teacher where he hopes to encourage others to share his passion of performing. Kade is very excited to be a part of
the Creative Arts Dace Studios staff and can’t wait for this journey to begin.
