MINI DANCERS

(2 to 4 years)


A fun 45mins class which introduces children to dance in an enjoyable way. This class aims to teach basic co-ordination and movement, general appreciation and understanding of music and rhythm. The children are introduced to Classical, Tap and Jazz dance in these classes. In addition they do some tumbling and singing. There are morning or afternoon Kinder Dance classes which may suit your timetable. Children are expected to go into class without mum or dad.

Dress Requirements: Leotard and either skirt/bike shorts/tights.

Shoes: Pink Ballet & Tan Tap Shoes

Hair: Pony Tail or BuN

ADULT CLASSES

Don’t let the kids have all the fun, why not enrol yourself in a dance class! Classes are very reasonably priced. No pressure commitment! Either enrol per term or just come and pay on a casual basis whatever suits your busy schedule! They are a lot of FUN!

Currently offering adult classes in contemporary, jazz, tap and ballet.

ACROBATICS

Classes for all ages and levels are available in Acrobatics. Acrobatics enhances children’s strength and flexibility and is exceptionally good for all growing bodies. Besides this the children just “Love It”. Advanced Acrobatics classes are available and by invitation only. Students are encouraged to train in at least one other discipline of dance or technique to compliment and support their acrobatic training.

ACRO BALANCE

Acro balance is an acrobatic art that combines elements of adagio and hand balancing. Adagio consists of partner lifts, where the one or more bases lift a flyer in many different poses and positions. Lot’s of fun standing on your friends!

CLASSICAL BALLET (CSTD)

Classical Ballet teaches grace, elegance, line and discipline and is essential for the student who is serious about dancing. Classical classes are the basis on which to learn any form of dance. Students are prepared for C.S.T.D. (The Commonwealth Society of Teachers of Dancing) Grade and Vocational Examinations. Exams are encouraged but are not compulsory. Two classes per week required for exam entry. Classical ballet is compulsory for elite eisteddfod students.

CONTEMPORARY & LYRICAL

A popular dance forms incorporating moves from many styles of dance. Lyrical & Contemporary dancing focuses on the expression of strong emotion, the style concentrates more on individual approach and expressiveness than the precision of the dancer's movements with a keen focus on technique & alignment.

HIP HOP

All the latest music, all the latest dance steps, this popular class is sure to be a favourite.

JAZZ (CSTD)

These classes are quick moving and challenging, featuring today’s Modern jazz styles including appropriate technique. Jazz technique, commercial & broadway styles are taught throughout the year in all age groups. Exams are available but not compulsory in these classes for all ages in the C.S.T.D syllabus. The jazz grades continue right through to Diploma level. For exam entry in Grades 2 and above it is a requirement to also take a weekly ballet class.

AERIAL LYRA

Aerial Lyra is a circular steel apparatus (resembling a hula hoop) suspended from the ceiling, on which circus artists may perform aerial acrobatics. It can be used static, spinning, or swinging. Students will learn the fundamentals of aerial acrobatics whilst building strong & flexible bodies. Aerial Lyra requires a lot of upper body strength and core strength.

MUSICAL THEATRE

This performance style of Jazz was popularised to a large extent by Bob Fosse’s work, which is exemplified by Broadway shows such as Chicago, Cabaret and Sweet Charity. Theatre Jazz is also used in large scale musicals today such as Fame, Wicked and Grease, and the TV show Smash. Singing and Acting training is important to all dancers, as it enhances their performance skills and encourages them to speak and perform expressively. The children are taught to be effective communicators and it increases confidence and self esteem.

PETITE COMBO CLASSES

We know it can be difficult to choose the right genre for your little one when they first start dancing, we also understand most of the time they want to do every class under the sun! This is why at CADS we offer Petite Dancers Combo Classes. There are a range of combo’s to choose from which include a wide range of dance styles including; jazz, tap, classical ballet, hip hop, contemporary and acrobatics. We know your tiny dancer will love these classes!

PROGRESSIONS

A class suited for those students who are serious about improving their technique. The class focuses on flexibility, strength, turns and leaps as well as training students in the art of improvisation.

TAP (CSTD)

A solid learning ground for all keen tap students. Students work towards C.S.T.D Tap examinations but exams are not compulsory. The tap grades continue right through to Diploma level.

Boys: Dance pants, singlet or t-shirt.
